What is a disability?

A disability is often defined as any limitation, restriction or impairment which impacts everyday activities. It can be present at birth or can occur during a person’s lifetime. It can be permanent or temporary, visible or invisible, and it can define you, or you can define it with education, awareness, resources, support, and empowerment.

We are utilizing 4 general categories of disabilities:

Intellectual – may mean difficulty communicating, learning, and retaining information.  (Including: Down’s, Fragile X, Developmental Delays, & more)

Physical – may affect a person’s physical capacity and/or mobility. (Including: MS, Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Spina Bifida, & more)

Sensory – may affect one or more of the senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. (Including: Blindness, Deafness, Sensory Integration, Autism, & more)

Mental Health – may affect a person’s thinking, emotional state, and their behavior.  (Including: Bipolar, Depression, Mood-Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, & more)

Meetings will be held monthly on the third Tuesday.
